10 Wrestlers Who Were Cut From Video Games
6. WWF In Your House And WWF SmackDown - Jeff Jarrett
In Your House (1996) was not a typical wrestling game. It featured some of the biggest stars in pro-wrestling, though they fought in a style more befitting of Mortal Kombat than WrestleMania. As for SmackDown (1), that marked the renaissance of wrestling video games. Yet, both In Your House and SmackDown are united in deleting former Intercontinental Champion 'Double J' Jeff Jarrett.
In Your House cut Jarrett due to his departure from WWF during 1996. This was influenced by contract disputes along with Jarrett being unhappy about the (in his opinion) premature split from The Roadie. In retrospect, Jarrett takes 'full responsibility,” while believing the duo's legacy validates his creative beliefs.
Jarrett's cut from SmackDown was the result of even more intense and ugly backstage battles. Jarrett had financial disputes with the promotion as his contract neared its end in October 1999. Jarrett also had being the reigning Intercontinental Champion as a bargaining chip. It was rumoured that Jarrett refused to drop the title to Chyna at No Mercy 1999 unless the company paid him $200,000.
Though the specifics have been disputed during the years, Jarrett, who joined WCW immediately and founded '00s rival TNA, was a persona non grata in WWE for almost two decades.
