11 Awesome Actors Who Gave Awful Video Game Performances
1. Bruce Willis - Apocalypse
Bruce Willis may be firmly trapped in the straight-to-VOD dungeon these days, but it's impossible to forget the array of iconic performances he's given throughout the years.
His turn in 1998's third-person shooter Apocalypse, however, certainly wasn't one of them. In fairness, Willis' listless performance as protagonist Trey Kincaid (the most 90s action hero name ever) can only partly be blamed on the actor's own disinterest, because Kincaid was originally supposed to be the protagonist's sidekick. During the game's incredibly messy development, though, he was (somewhat smartly) changed to be the player character.
Unfortunately, there was no time or money to get Willis back to expand his rather scant original voiceover role, so Willis' original one-liners were rather awkwardly shaped around the new narrative, resulting in a virtually incomprehensible end-product.
It didn't help that in addition to Willis clearly not giving a toss, the voiceover itself sounded like it was recorded in someone's toilet, far from the quality you'd expect for a game with enough cash to rope in an A-list Hollywood talent. Oh, Bruce.
