6. Fable II
True to form, Molyneux hyped up the second Fable game so much that the gaming community was expecting (and parts of it secretly hoping, no doubt) that the series' Xbox 360 debut was going to be a disappointment. But those naysayers were to be disappointed themselves, because Fable II got everything right, building on many of the mechanics that made its predecessor such a charmer, while including all the glossiness that we were hoping for from an Xbox 360 game. The ever-important character development system remains among the greatest and most interesting ever, with factors such as moral alignment, attractiveness, and even jobs defining your character. It felt like every decision you made and every fight you engaged in had some kind of consequence - right down to what kind of food you ate to heal up, which affected your character's weight (because why wouldn't it?). Fable II was also one of the first 3D RPGs to feature comprehensive co-op gameplay, letting you play through the entire game with a buddy. Despite its many innovations, few of Fable II's ideas were implemented into subsequent games, which in a way has helped it remain one of the most unique RPGs of its time.
