11 Severely Underrated Xbox One Games You Must Play

6. D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die

Give a guy like the quirky Japanese developer SWERY (real name Hidetaka Suehiro) the general task of "Make something for the Kinect", and over time his ridiculous creation D4 remains the only decent thing the hardware will ever let you experience. Playing detective David Young and set on the path of discovering what his wife's final words ("Look for D") really mean, it turns into an absolutely barmy explosion of absurd characters, time-travelling plot reveals and a level of Eastern-themed madness that makes Metal Gear Solid's constant crotch-grabbing look tame. It must be said that controller support was eventually added for this, but there are some cool uses of the otherwise-godawful Kinect; namely the quick-time event action sequences that'll see you defending blows from attackers, and also the slick detective mode that (when the machine is recognising you correctly) will let you pick up and analyse crime scenes one clue at a time. Certainly not for everyone (your neighbour is a crazy catsuit-wearing woman who meows every now and then), but if you like SWERY's magnum opus Deadly Premonition and wanted to know what he's been up to more recently, D4 is yours for the taking.
