11 Things We Learned From Tokyo Game Show 2016

5. Metal Gear Survive's Is As Naff And Pointless As You'd Expect

Every time the sentence, "A new Metal Gear game is coming" gets uttered, it has to come with the caveat of "But without Hideo Kojima and without his team, no seriously nobody wants this and ohgod why"

At TGS especially, we finally got eyes on what's coming next year, and it... doesn't look good.

The same basic environments given an 'undead', 'parallel universe' twist, no new moves other than a behind-the-back melee combo mode and the ability to craft things like machine gun turrets - MGSurvive (because I refuse to call it MGS) continues to be a very basic cash-grab, filled to the brim with generic fodder for the zombie genre.

In better news, Konami's reps have been quick to point out that the game is being worked on by many members of Hideo Kojima's old team, but it does little to quell the fact that nothing about this has anything to do with the Metal Gear universe, other than name alone.

Still, would you play a Metal Gear Solid V-esque game that was all gameplay and minimal to no plot? Let us know in the comments.
