11 Times Video Game DLC Lost Its Mind

9. Sonic Lost World - Extra Lives

The Sims 4
Nintendo

Ever been so bad at a video game that you’ve had to buy extra lives? Well, that was the case with Sonic Lost World.

While an argument could be made for the extension of chances in games such as Dark Souls or Sekiro, Sonic Lost World was never a hard adventure. It was also an incredibly easy game to farm extra lives on.

By purchasing this pack you could reward yourself with 25 extra lives. The fact that the developers even thought a game like this would need such a feature is mind-boggling, but hey, at least players would be able to blast through the game no problem.

It’s undoubtedly one of the worst uses of micro-transactions, and when asked about it the studio responded with: “The extra lives are a way to let you have a bit more fun being reckless if you want to be.”

So basically, if you want to have fun and be silly, you gotta pay for it. If a cat has nine lives, then it looks like a hedgehog gets twenty five - at a price.
