Whether we like it or not, Metal Gear Solid 6 is happening.

Series creator Hideo Kojima split with Konami shortly before the release of MGS V (taking the bulk of his team with him in the process), but publisher Konami has continued to dip its toes back into the iconic franchise, apparently with the intent of creating a real sequel to the last numbered game.

They shipped spin-off Metal Gear Survive in 2018 to negative reception, but it seems like that was just a test to get to grips with the stellar FOX Engine and get a team together who can produce future MGS titles. According to Colin Moriarty, a longtime games journalist with plenty of insider sources, Metal Gear Solid 6 is in development, though nobody knows what form it's going to take.

A new instalment with Kojima at the helm sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, but maybe Konami can defy all the odds and deliver a title worthy of the moniker.
