11 Unannounced Video Games We Know Are Coming
10. Call Of Duty: Black Ops 5
Now, you might be saying "Josh, of course Black Ops 5 is going to happen, Activision isn't just going to let its biggest Call of Duty series sit on the back-burner", but while it is obvious that a sequel would happen eventually, the surprising thing is when it's actually set to come out.
Since Advanced Warfare, Call of Duty titles have worked on a three-year cycle, with three developers (Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch) working on releases to maintain an annualised schedule. That would have made Black Ops 5 due in 2021, but apparently all that has changed, and it's actually the next in the franchise to be released.
According to insider reports, the game that Sledgehammer was working on (which was being co-developed with Raven Software) was a disaster, and with a deadline looming, Activision decided to call in Treyarch to salvage the project as a new Black Ops, with the former lead studios providing support.
Consequently, the work already completed has been re-tooled, including a campaign set during the Cold, Korean and Vietnam Wars, zombies, and the regular multiplayer offerings. It sounds like a total shambles, but hopefully the team will be able to right the ship before next year rolls around - especially considering this will be the first next-gen Call of Duty title.
