11 Unexpected Video Game Jump Scares That Scarred You For Life

4. Bloodborne's Werewolf Village

Unlike the Souls series before it, From Software's Bloodborne was as much of a survival horror game as it was a fantastical hack-and-slash RPG.

Embracing Lovecraftian elements and a small dose of Bram Stoker for good measure, the game constantly had players on their toes as they explored the twisted Gothic city of Yarnham.

But one area in particular, the decimated village of Old Yarnham, was designed with a much more overt horror-driven philosophy than other locations in the game.

Eerily empty, the early parts of this area sees players constantly ambushed by vicious werewolves, with one particularly insidious path leading you down a tight corridor to a seemingly dead end, only to have you turn around and be mere inches away from a bloodthirsty pair of fangs.
