11 Upcoming Video Games That Might Be The PS4's Killer App
7. The Last Guardian
Release Date: Who knows!? The Buzz: Team Ico have released two splendid, artful adventure games to date with Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, and so their long-gestating The Last Guardian has been of keen interest ever since it was first announced to the public in 2009. Gameplay revolves around a young boy who must co-operate with a large, Griffin-like creature called Trico to evade guards and escape the ruinous locale. Why It Might Be The Killer App: Because both of the developer's previous games were undeniable masterpieces, and from what's been shown off of TLG so far, it looks to be no different. The gameplay appears to be innovative, the visuals are gorgeous, and it's surely going to boast a deeply emotional component as well (place your bets on whether the boy or Trico dies). Why It Might Not Be: Still, the game has been in development for so long that the mechanics may feel outdated by the time it eventually releases. It's been in the making for 8 years now (originally being developed for the PS3), so it's not unreasonable to consider that some aspects of the gameplay need to be refined, or perhaps that is in fact the primary reason for the prolonged development. When it eventually comes out, it's possible that either it won't be able to live up to the hype, or gamers maybe won't even care anymore.
