11 Upcoming Video Games That Might Be The PS4's Killer App
5. Gran Turismo 7
Release Date: 2016 (probably). The Buzz: Polyphony Digital are hard at work on the first Gran Turismo game for the PS4, so expectations are high for the developer to deliver the most visually stunning racing game ever made. Why It Might Be The Killer App: Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec in particular pretty much defined "killer app" back in the day, releasing early on in the PS2's life cycle and becoming one of the best-selling video games of all time. Though the series is enduring a low-point at the moment, general audience hunger for a flashy new racer on the PS4 will certainly work in PD's favour, and if it can return the franchise to its former glory, then expect one of the console's essential titles. Why It Might Not Be: The last two GT games were disappointing and didn't feel finished upon release. Plus, PD have already confirmed that they will once again be recycling assets from older games as "standard" cars, whereas premium models will only be few and far between. It doesn't exactly suggest that they're going all out graphically, but if the gameplay itself is strong and the online multiplayer functions better than it did in the last two games, it could prove surprising.
