11 Upcoming Video Games That Might Be The PS4's Killer App
4. Abzu
Release Date: TBA 2016. The Buzz: Abzu is an exploratory underwater adventure game from the new studio Giant Squid, headed by Matt Nava, who previously worked as art director on thatgamecompany's excellent Flower and Journey. Journey composer Austin Wintory (whose work netted the video game medium its first ever Grammy Award nomination) is also on board, and while little is known about the plot or gameplay, it looks absolutely gorgeous. Why It Might Be The Killer App: Journey was a masterpiece in its own right and continues to be regarded as one of the best PS3 games despite its 80-minute length. If Abzu is a little longer but matches it in artistic ambition, it could easily do wonders for the indie game scene and prove that, no matter the size of the studio behind a title, it can be the reason to own a console. Why It Might Not Be: Abzu may simply be too intimate in scale to attract more casual gamers to the console: it's particularly likely that the game won't be particularly long, and "arty" games aren't always for everyone.
