11 Video Games With Severely Underused Secondary Characters

1. The Darkling - The Darkness 2

Jackie Estacado's helpful Darkling had a good run in The Darkness 2. Having a rather interesting personality, he was much more relatable than the imps of the first game. The fact that he wasn't inherently evil, but mischievous and cheeky, made him a likable comic relief in an extremely violent and dark game. Now, this character hasn't been underused story-wise. His role is perfectly executed, and he gets more than enough game space to spread his wings. It's the gameplay sequences that have been bugging me. In two instances, the player takes control of the Darkling to assist Jackie in some manner. It's all well and good, but I'd love to see more of it. More stealth attacks, better levels... something like the additional Vendetta campaign, just stealthier. It feels like there's quite a story behind this thing's Union Jack shirt and the cat hat, and I believe that the developer should have given us a short story that would tell us about this particular Darkling and how he found his way to Jackie. What characters would you like to see more of? Are they more deserving of an entry in this article than the ones I've chosen? Leave comments below!
