11 Video Games You Won't Believe Are Almost 20 Years Old

3. Worms

Like Monopoly or Scrabble there's just something totally ageless about Team 17's little strategy title. By taking the banal idea of a few weaponised wrigglers and giving them everything from bazookas to a range of grenades, flying sheep and even an assortment of landscape-alternating tools, each and every game of Worms is always completely different - with a staggering amount of depth along the way. Over the years it's had a few dabbles in going 3D, but nothing beats 'classic Worms', with their squeaky high-pitched voices reeling off one-liners after each kill, and the sheer enjoyment that comes with naming your entire squad whatever you like making things that little bit more special. Want to tackle the enemy as the wormy-version of your favourite band, or even family members? Worms gave you the means to do so, and it's simple-yet-rewarding turn-based combat still tops mobile charts across all platforms today.
