12 Awesome Video Game Alternate Endings

5. Kill Trevor - Grand Theft Auto V

After pulling off the final heist in GTA V, the player, as Franklin, is given three options: kill the unstable Trevor for Steve Haines, murder Michael for interfering in Devon Weston's business ventures, or opt for a "deathwish", in which the three of you attempt to take all your enemies down in one fell swoop.

The Actual Ending: The third option is clearly the choice players are "supposed" to take for the happiest outcome, as the trio leads Merryweather and the FIB into a trap, both of whom the gang defeat. Then, the three protagonists each assassinate one final enemy before kidnapping Weston, locking him in his car's trunk and pushing the car off a cliff. The three agree to remain friends and t, and Abe is saved by Big Face, teleported to a land where all the Mudokons he saved are waiting in worship. This, of course, sets the stage for Abe's Exoddus.

The Alternate Ending: The bad ending has Abe captured by Molluck and left hanging above a meat grinder while the Mudokons state that Abe never really cared about them. Despite Big Face's protests, they leave Abe to be dropped into the meat grinder, as Molluck laughs at his grotesque end. Why It's Awesome: If yohe game ends. The Alternate Ending: Probably the most "realistic" of the three endings is the first option, in which Franklin kills Trevor. The two meet up, and after Trevor starts to go nuts, Franklin calls Michael for help, who shows up and ams Trevor's car into a gas tanker. Trevor gets soaked in fuel, and Franklin then shoots at him, causing Trevor to explode in a blaze of glory. Michael and Franklin stay friends, though Michael is clearly heavily bothered by what they just did. Why It's Awesome: It's a little more grounded than the Deathwish ending, and considering how insane Trevor was, it's not exactly that dark. Sure, it's a tough choice to kill off the game's most hilariously insane and entertaining character, but it beats the second ending, which has Franklin acting rather out-of-character as he kills Michael. This leads to Trevor cutting ties with him, and if Trevor can't stand to be around you, then it's pretty clear you did something really, really wrong.
