5. Invisible Inc.

Don't Starve, Shank and Don't Starve developers Klei Entertainment are some of the finest coders in the business, and their latest work Invisible Inc. is a brilliantly unique take on the turn-based isometric strategy genre - primarily because if you're playing well, you'll rarely have to go toe-to-toe with anyone. Playing as a secret sect of operatives who've lost their base HQ, you'll go on a string of incredibly intense stealth missions to recover supplies and information, trading turns with opposing guards and things like security bots or surveillance cameras. Standard features of this genre like a fog of war and putting characters on overwatch are standard, but it's in actively trying to avoid what's around the next corner that really sets it apart. As standard with Klei, the animation and overall presentation of the world and characters is sublime, transferring into gameplay when you land a knockout blow that sends a guard flying, or tip-toe your way from shadow to shadow. Difficulty is customisable to a huge degree depending on how much of a challenge you're looking for, and even though the game does open saying "You're going to die, a lot", it's all part of a Rogue Legacy-style approach to let you improve and unlock new skills as every past operative bites the dust. An extremely original game, and one that for now is only on Steam (but is coming to PS4 later this year), Klei prove their stellar track record won't be waning any time soon.
