11. Demonic Door - Doom 3

Early on during the Communications Transfer sequence of Doom 3, you'll come across a blood-soaked door which has a fiendish little demonic surprise up its sleeve, as a giant head appears out of it, screeching out loud before slinking back into the door.

Even once that initial terror has worn off, you'll most certainly be creeped out by an accompanying voice uttering, "Metus, dolor, mors ac formidonis", which is Latin for "Fear, pain, death and terror."

Though you might've gotten a little too accustomed to imps jumping out at you after a few hours of playing Doom 3, this one did a fantastic job of catching players off-guard.
