7. Sonic: Lost World

Right, that's it. I give up with Sonic. There's been far too many attempts now to keep him relevant and fun in the modern era, but things such as the Werehog and Sonic Lost World make me sad to see this once iconic character reduced to a shell of his former self. Despite some highlights such as the 3D levels in Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Generations, the blue blur's latest adventure was poorly received, poorly designed and was basically a poor clone of Super Mario Galaxy. That was all everyone had to say about Lost World during its development. 'Yay, it's like Mario, but with Sonic' shouted the press. Hype was built. Perhaps this, finally, would be a Sonic game we could be proud of. Nah. Sonic Lost World was released to poor reviews and despite channeling some of Mario's spirit, it simply didn't have the charm of Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2. Ah well, there's always next year for yet another attempt at Sonic relevancy, eh Sega?
