12 Gaming Predictions For 2020 (Now E3 Isn't Happening)
10. Metroid Prime 4 Quietly Slips To 2021
Though Nintendo stopped doing their own E3 conferences several years ago, they've still been a major part of the expo thanks to their Direct and Treehouse livestreams, which allowed them to demo far more gameplay than a mere two-hour stage show would ever allow.
Fans were quite understandably expecting Nintendo to drop the first gameplay footage from Metroid Prime 4 during this year's E3 Direct, but one suspects Nintendo might use E3's cancellation as an opportunity to quietly deflect questions about its development.
Given that Nintendo effectively "scrapped" Metroid Prime 4's original development and started fresh at the beginning of 2019, it's quite possible that it simply isn't ready for a reveal this summer. And so, the lack of a formal E3 will make it easier for Nintendo to surreptitiously sidestep discussing the game's progress.
While it's certainly possible we do see Metroid Prime 4 gameplay later in 2020, expect reports to follow that it's slid into 2021.
