12 Gaming Sequels That Aren't In Development (But Really Should Be)

8. Ape Escape 4

The Ape Escape franchise is a quintessentially Japanese creation, a game about a young man named Spike who has to travel through time and capture a bunch of apes to stop them from rewriting history. It's a totally barmy premise, and despite the seemingly niche appeal, it was a strong seller right out of the gate, aided by the almost-universally positive reviews. Both sequels received strong write-ups in a slightly-less enthusiastic capacity, but aside from spin-offs and party games, there hasn't been a main game in the series in almost a decade. The constant spin-offs and Spike's presence in the so-so beat 'em up PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale back in 2012 shows that the franchise is still on Sony's mind, but they've said not a word about a new core title in years.
