Crash 4's trailer ending on the gang wiping out everything past Crash 3 was a bold as hell move - one that could spell disaster if Crash's first numbered instalment in 22 years doesn't feel just right.

Honestly though? This looks incredibly promising. After a couple decade's worth of experimentation - the tribal sleeve-fronted Crash being a notable sour point - 2020 Crash looks spot on.

Keeping him mute avoids the Skylanders vibe where he was a wise crackin' Aussie, and amping up the animation for Cortex and Coco gives the cast some much-needed life. Developer Toys for Bob have even consulted with ex-Naughty Dog staff from the golden age of Crash, to make sure everything lines up.

With faster gameplay, bigger levels, new masks and costumes to try out, could this do the impossible and continue where we left off?
