12 Major Video Game Sequels That Must Be Announced In 2016

9. Onimusha 5

Capcom are straight-up gaming royalty, and although they're about to drop the next main instalment in the legendary Street Fighter series with its fifth entry, following that we're most likely going to end up with Resident Evil 7, or something out of left field instead. And what's more left-field in 2016, than a return to a franchise that was going from strength to strength... until the weird fourth title, where suddenly long-term protagonist Samanosuke was replaced by a horn-headed newbie, Soki, as the team decided to prematurely reboot the entire canon. Understandably, this broke the connection thousands of us had to the feel of the original trilogy, and gone was the idea of basing characters on real-world actors (O2's main-man was based on Japanese legend Yuko Sanpei, and 3 had Leon main-man, Jean Reno). This all resulted in Capcom putting Onimusha on the back-burner, and creative director Keiji Inafune would then leave to Kickstart his personal follow-up to Mega Man, Mighty Number 9. If the next Onimusha was a pleasant return to scanning in prolific actors, retaining the static backgrounds of old and amping up the gore whilst fleshing out our combat options, it could be incredible.
