12 Major Video Game Sequels That Must Be Announced In 2016

8. Skate 4

The whole cultural movement that Tony Hawk's inspired across the early 2000s simply can't happen again, or won't anytime soon. The Hawkster's latest game was a smouldering car crash if ever there was one, and not even in a sense that'll go viral. Developers Robomodo dropped the ball in every conceivable way - but that's why EA should revive Skate and make it better than ever. For the most part, the only reason we all tired of the franchise in the first place was down to a weird focus on building social connections and grouping players together, sharing spots and tricks as they tried to beat each others' high scores. EA somehow forgot that the core appeal of the series was just hopping on your board, kicking off the pavement and seeing where the momentum took you. The series was at its best when you were exploring, designing custom runs and learning how to pull off all sorts of complex tricks. Thanks to the aforementioned THPS revolution, there'll always be a massive longing to revisit that period of being obsessed by extreme sports through nostalgia alone - the question isn't how EA can 'do another Skate', it's when.
