12 More Enjoyably Dumb Things Gamers Do We Can't Explain
3. Jumping To Certain Death (In Case There's A Secret)
In the previous lisy, I covered how one of the first objectives of any player jumping into an open-world title is finding the highest point of the map, climbing to the top and then throwing themselves off to certain death. Yeah, you die, but it's worth it to just say you did it.
There is another far more frustrating habit all gamers have though, and that's jumping directly into the void - which they know in the back of their heads is a bad idea - in case there's a secret lurking at the bottom. We've been trained by developers to look for secrets in certain places, so when you see a drop in a game like Bloodborne that looks a little suspicious, a part of you wants to jump into it just in case there's something at the bottom.
Yeah, most times it'll only result in a game over screen, but on the off chance it does result in a secret area or hidden item, it validates every disastrous attempt.
