5. Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers

Street Fighter Ii Switch

"Nintendo Switch" and "essential purchase" very much go hand-in-hand as the system's library is drastically smaller than the competition. However, a reduction in quantity only means greater reception for what's available, and this 'ultimate package' of quite possibly the greatest fighting game of all time is sure to become an online favourite.

Based on both the original SF II and its Turbo update, The Final Challengers has been completely redrawn for the Switch (though you can choose to play with old school pixel graphics). Atop this, there's online multiplayer, a new tag-team mode, a 'one hit kill' mode (just like indie-smash Divekick) and an expanded roster.

Lastly - and potentially the weirdest feature of them all - Capcom have built an all-new first-person mode called 'Way of the Hado', where you play as Ryu, using one Joy-Con in each hand to punch, throw and "HADOUKEN!" your way through scores of Shadaloo soldiers. If done well, this will be a blast, but the real competition and longevity of The Final Challengers will be trying to rise up the ranks of the world online.
