12 Most Hotly Anticipated Video Games You'll Need To Play In 2016
10. Dishonored 2
In the build-up to the release of the original Dishonored, everyone viewed it with a kind of excited curiosity. With its decrepit steampunk setting and comically exaggerated aesthetics, it looked like a game that could either be completely brilliant or utterly flop, and thankfully it was the former. Dishonored 2 doesn't have the privilege of being an underdog any more, and expectations are high that it will build on its breakout predecessor. Set 15 years after the events of the first game, the Empress Emily Kaldwin, who Corvo elevated to power in the first game, has been dethroned and must fight to get it back by learning the ways of the Assassin (through Corvo, of course). Players will get to choose whether they control Corvo or Emily through each of the missions, with the characters' distinctive abilities encouraging different tactics on each play-through. You will have a choice about whether to go about the game lethally or non-lethally, with your actions affecting the world around you depending on how much of a nice person or sociopath you are. Alternatively, you can take the mysterious 'third path', which we don't know anything more about yet. We'll of course see the return of the legendary teleportation-like 'Blink' ability, as well as a host of new supernatural skills befitting of the strange, unique world that Dishonored is set in, which crosses steampunk technologies with magic to spectacular effect. Dishonored was one of the best new IPs of the last generation. Now it's up to Dishonored 2 to establish it as a leading AAA franchise of the current generation.
