12 Most Memorable Moments From PS4's First Year

8. Infamous: Second Son Is...Good, But Not Great

The first major post-launch exclusive to hit the PS4, Sucker Punch's Infamous: Second Son, rode in on a tidal wave of hype, and ultimately became the recipient of 2014's "nice try" award. Though it boasted easily the best graphics of any PS4 game up to that point and was absolutely fun to play through, it just lacked the necessary kick to make it a game worth holding onto once you finished it. The missions were repetitive, the side missions weren't much better (despite there being loads of them), the campaign was too short, and there wasn't much of an incentive to play through the game twice and experience both unambiguously Good/Bad sides of the story. It was a breezy blast with some of the most jaw-droppingly authentic lip sync and facial animations ever seen in a game, but this wasn't enough to elevate a decent if surprisingly effortless game to greatness. And so, everyone's hopes for the console's first instant classic were immediately dashed.
