7. Entwined Is Announced At E3...And Released Minutes Later
The PR hype machine typically does more bad for consumers than good, and sometimes it's just frustrating to hear about a game two years before release (hello, Watch Dogs), after which point the final product can't possibly live up to those astronomical expectations. What a pleasant surprise it was, then, when indie developer Pixelopus unveiled their new rhythm game Entwined at E3 in June, and at the end of their press conference, they announced that it would be available on PSN immediately. In the age of Internet-connected consoles, it's a true marvel that content can be distributed this way, and more to the point, free of ridiculous, hyperbolic bigging-up for months, even years on end. What's more, Entwined turned out to be a brief but gorgeous adventure game, and on the strength of this as well as its low price and Cross-Buy availability, hopefully it made a profit for its ambitious creators.
