6. The Last Of Us & Grand Theft Auto V Remastered Show How It Should Be Done

Terms like "remastered" and "HD" shouldn't necessarily be taken at face value, because time and time again developers have re-released "HD" versions of classic games that really aren't especially HD at all. Often gamers are duped into buying these games for the sake of trophies and other goodies, even though the game itself looks only marginally better than the original: the textures still look muddy and outdated, and the marketing terminology is clearly intended to make gamers believe that the final product will be a ground-up reworking of the original. The remastered editions of The Last of Us and Grand Theft Auto V, however, are a testament to the potential for a double-dip to actually be worth the money. Naughty Dog's update made a wonderful game even more beautiful, with sharper visuals and all the DLC bundled along with it, while GTA V simply gave gamers the version they probably should have just had in the first place, while throwing in an astoundingly detailed first-person mode for good measure too. Most developers tend to cut corners, but these two games proved that going the extra mile really is worth it.
