12 Most Underrated Video Games Of This Console Generation (So Far)
9. Mad Max
Coming out so soon after the blockbuster movie of the same name, you'd have thought that the game would be a guaranteed hit so long as it was a bit better than average.
While sales were decent, critics were lukewarm towards this post-apocalyptic, open-world romp through the (Australian, I think) outback. Yes, the setting is a bit on the stark side (desert and, oh look, more desert), but the base-capturing gameplay, teeth-clenched driving, and Arkham-like combat mechanics all add up to a brilliant game that could easily have earned the same critical acclaim as Shadow of Mordor had it come out a year earlier.
Maybe due to not being tied in to the brilliant and wonderfully-imagined world of the movie, or the possibility that critics don't know what the hell they're talking about, Mad Max was, errr, buried in the sand quite quickly.
On the bright side, that means you can now grab it on the cheap!
