12 Most Underrated Video Games Of This Console Generation (So Far)
7. Battleborn
The fact that I instinctively started writing 'Bloodborne' when writing this entry kind of sums up this game's predicament. Its name sounds too much like another, superior game, and the fact that it's a hero-based colourful online shooter means it's doomed to always be compared with the superior Overwatch, which was released around the same time.
But pretend for a moment that Overwatch and Bloodborne don't exist, and you'll see that Blood—sorry, Battleborn is a perfectly good game in its own right. It has an entertaining story, a huge array of characters, and that trademark Borderlands-like Gearbox humour. The game really shines in the competitive multiplayer, which is well balanced (maybe even more so than Overwatch?!?), and encourages you to experiment with countless hero combinations.
It's maybe so overloaded with ideas and visuals that it sometimes doesn't fit together, but this is still one of the better shooters of this generation. And with its player numbers waning, it might soon be free. Yay!
