12 Stunning Video Game Locations You Must Visit Before You Die

2. Toad Town - Super Mario Galaxy

There is no place more sweet and cuddly than Mario Galaxy's Toad Town. Everything looks like it's made out of marshmallow, and its mushroom-headed denizens are so cute you could just eat them; literally, take a knife to them, dice them up, then grill them and add them to your Full English Breakfast. You arrive at Toad Town in time for the Star Festival at the end of Super Mario Galaxy, then gather star chunks to combine them into one final super-star. The whole setting is just so serene. The night sky is lit up by what looks like a supernova, and the locals just seems so damn cheery. Mario Town is the video game equivalent to Hobbiton, and it'd be fantastic if a future Mario game evolved the setting, making it a full-on town you could run around and explore. Something we may see on the Nintendo NX, perhaps?
