12 Tear-Jerking Video Game Stories That'll Melt Your Heart

7. The Speedrunner That Proposed To His Girlfriend In Front Of 140,000 Viewers

It takes a brave man to bare his soul and do something life-changing in front of hundreds of thousands of people. But that's what a streamer under the alias of Jackafur chose to do, and fair play to him for having the cojones to go through with it, when many would've bottled it. For a bit of background, the proposal came during a playthrough of Mischief Makers on the Nintendo 64 at Awesome Games Done Quickly 2015. AGDQ is an event that combines charity with speed running, where masters of their craft gather to complete awesome games quickly - in the hope of raising money to combat cancer. Jackafur told the audience that he was about to get sentimental, before delivering this speech:
Last year I was in like a really bad place emotionally or whatever, and I wanted to say that all my friends in the community like really pulled me through that. These guys picked me off my feet, but this girl keeps me on my feet, so I just wanted to say that. And also, you know, I love you very much, and I€™m going to love you forever. So, I wanted to ask you... if you would marry me?
Everyone gasped and time stood still as they waited for her response. She said a very emotional yes, at which point the audience went a bit nuts. It's a heart warming moment played out in front of a mass audience - congratulations to the pair! And not that he needed to, but no, he didn't break the record.
