12 Times Pokemon Legitimately DIED
10. Spoink (Games)
Delightful, adorable Spoink! What could possibly go wrong?
The psychic bounce Pokémon made its debut in Generation III's Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald before making its anime debut in episode AG079. On first appearance, Spoink is an adorable little pig with a spring-like lower body and a shiny pearl for a headdress, however Spoink's Pokédex entry reveals that were to ever stop bouncing, it would straight-up die.
Well that's one half of the tale. The Ruby Pokédex entry focuses on Spoink's mortality, Sapphire's opts for Spoink's pearl - explaining that it is linked to the Pokémon's psychic powers - and Emerald remains neutral (basically Spoink bounces in its sleep and likes mushrooms).
It's clear then any subsequent Pokédex entry could have shied away from Spoink's dark, bouncy existence in favour of the pretty pearl on its head - later revealed to come from a Clamperl (which is a whole other box of issues). Instead, all entries in Generations IV, V and VI, with the exception of Alpha Sapphire, mentions the connection between Spoink's bouncing and it's continued presence on this mortal coil.
While there's no evidence of a Spoink succumbing to the great non-bounce, it's impossible to think that such a phenomena has not occurred (outside the anime).
