12 Upcoming Video Game Sequels Nobody Asked For

5. Homefront: The Revolution

The Pitch: Taking place two years after the first game, Homefront: The Revolution follows a new protagonist, Ethan Brady, as he attempts to dismantle the Greater Korean Republic, who are now operating a huge base out of Philadelphia. Unlike the first game, The Revolution will also be an open-world shooter, in which the war between the revolutionaries and the GKR may well spill out in front of players while they're on a mission, and they can choose to get involved or not. Why Nobody Asked For It: Because the original game wasn't exactly a masterpiece, being widely sniped by critics for its generic story and short campaign, even if the multiplayer was admittedly pretty fun. Still, it sold 2.6 million units in less than 2 months, which for a new IP isn't bad at all (if hardly electrifying), though it's not a game anyone even really talks about anymore, and with the multiplayer servers shut down following THQ's bankruptcy, the best part of it is now effectively dead. When the previous game had such a mediocre single-player component, why would gamers take a chance on another one? With a new developer, perhaps The Revolution will be a substantial improvement upon the flawed original, but does anyone really care about it?
