12 Upcoming Video Games Blatantly Trying To Rip Gamers Off

2. Need For Speed: No Limits Charges Players For Gas

The Game: An upcoming racing game for the iOS and Android mobile phone platforms, No Limits is the first Need for Speed game to release solely for phones...and just might be the last. Why It's A Ripoff: The game has already been released in Taiwan and the Netherlands for over a month, and it didn't take long for reports to emerge that No Limits charges players to fill up their gas tanks (which gradually deplete with each race) or wait for it to slowly fill up over time, a micro-transaction gimmick that hilariously undermines the game's no-holds-barred title. In addition, the game also has its own gold currency, which players can purchase with real money to buy not only more gas but also upgrades for their car. So, Need for Speed: All Limits, then? Will People Buy It Anyway?: The game itself is free-to-play, so there's no purchase required, but with other, surely superior Need for Speed games already available on phones (albeit as watered-down versions of their console counterparts), hopefully franchise fans won't be suckered in by this blatant attempt to wring their wallets dry. Frankly, it's almost enough to make you vomit, but that's EA for you...
