12 Upcoming Video Games Blatantly Trying To Rip Gamers Off
11. Final Fantasy VII For The PS4 Is...A Port From The PC Version
The Game: Arguably one of the greatest games ever made is finally coming to the PS4. After years of begging for an HD remake of Final Fantasy VII, it's finally happening, right? Why It's A Ripoff: After rather cheekily teasing fans that the impending game would be an HD remake, it transpired to a massively irate fanbase that Square Enix will instead just be porting the PC version to the current-gen console this Spring. Given how the Final Fantasy series has practically been in the toilet for a decade, and considering how many times you've probably already bought Final Fantasy VII in various iterations, this reeks of nothing more than a lazy, nostalgia-fueled cash-grab. Will People Buy It Anyway?: If Final Fantasy fanboys (and girls) have proven anything over the years, it's that they'll lap up pretty much anything that Square Enix serves them, because for better and for worse, the memories of their best work are potent enough to keep fans hopeful they might churn out another classic someday. In that stead, in an ephemeral digital world where nobody keeps their old physical games anymore, there's no doubt a sizable market of players keen to sink their teeth into FFVII once again, and so the developer will be taking total advantage of this. Expect it to sell like gangbusters, even though the fans should know better.
