12 Upcoming Video Games Blatantly Trying To Rip Gamers Off
8. You'll Need To Buy An Xbox One To Play Rise Of The Tomb Raider In 2015
The Game: The widely-anticipated sequel to Crystal Dynamics' superb, Uncharted-esque reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise. Why It's A Ripoff: It was announced last summer that the game is to be a timed exclusive for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, leaving the console family on which it first launched (the PlayStation) and PC gamers up the creek for a lengthy period of time. This is clearly intended to incentivise Xbox One sales (because does anyone really want to play it on the 360?), while making everyone who already has a PS4 suffer in silence without one of their flagship games...unless they're dumb enough to actually buy an Xbox One for the game rather than wait 6 months or so. Microsoft would love that. Will People Buy It Anyway?: It probably won't drive many people to buy Xbox Ones who weren't already on the fence, but for consumers looking to switch over to the current-gen this Christmas, a huge marketing campaign revolving around the game could easily sway a lot of people to the side of Microsoft. And of course, among those who already own 360s and Xbox Ones, it's almost certainly going to sell like hotcakes.
