4. The Ghosts (Pac-Man)
There's a classic saying which states that there's strength in numbers. Whoever said that had obviously not played Pac-Man which stars the most clueless team-up in history the Ghosts. Granted, like a yellow, rounder version of Popeye, Pac-Man needs a power-up to defeat his adversaries but if the ghosts actually played intelligently, it wouldn't even be a contest. Pac-Man is a simple creature really; basically a yellow hockey puck with a mouth. In later games, he would somehow develop arms, legs and eyes and go all '3D action-adventure' on us, but in the early days, the Ghosts had the upper hand. In fact, the Ghosts also have the programmers on their side desperate to punish kids and empty their wallets in the various arcades of the world. Each Ghost has a different 'personality' programmed into the game; the red Ghost will chase Pac-Man around the maze, whilst the blue and pink Ghosts will position themselves ahead of Pac-Man to catch him head on. The orange Ghost is supposed to act randomly but tends to chase Pac-Man down too. Still, they fail time and time again to defeat the all-devouring Pac-Man as he works towards that high score, even with their creator's help. A truly useless team-up.
