12 Video Games That Are Long Overdue Sequels
8. Super Princess Peach
In all honesty, it's a total travesty that there have only ever been two games to have Princess Peach as the main playable character in the entire history of the Mario franchise. When one of those was a Game Watch in 1990, called Princess Toadstool's Castle Run, it looks even worse. Heck, surely that game even deserves a mobile game reboot of some sort.
Super Princess Peach, a Nintendo DS game from 2006, is a fun traditional platformer that makes a fine addition to anyone's Nintendo DS collection even now. It also ranks as one of the best selling games on the platform with over a million copies sold. With the sales and reviews for this game (75 on Metacritic), it's really weird to have not seen a sequel of some sort come out yet. Gaming in general needs more games with female protagonists in central roles, and there are few better places to start than with one of the most recognisable female characters in gaming history.
With diversity and the need for inclusion in the limelight more than ever, it would seem a fitting time for Nintendo to bring a Princess Peach game to the Nintendo Switch.
