12 Worst Video Game Moments Of The Decade (So Far)
5. Using The Xbox One With Kinect
The generational leap between consoles had more hiccups than The Master Chief Collection's frame rate, with Microsoft's truly misguided attempt to capitalise on the success of the 360 being one of the most high-profile faceplants of all time. Following the unveiling of the Xbox One (a terrible name) they set about showing a live audience (who weren't clapping, but the audio would lead you to believe they were) how a voice-activated revamp of the previously dead-in-the-water Kinect would work. Thing is, it was all staged - every last bit of it. Cut to users getting home with their fancy new bits of kit and... nothing happened. Occasionally it might recognise what you want, but for the most part with this sort of thing, if you can't guarantee a 100% success rate, it just annoys you more than anything else. Microsoft have since ditched the device altogether, thoroughly crippling the Xbox One dashboard as huge chunks of it were designed with the Kinect in mind. Whenever you're ready to be awesome again Microsoft, that'd be great. We're kinda getting tired of waiting.
