Before a studio invests in developing a video game, they need to ask crucial questions - "Does this game need to be made?" "Is it marketable?" Will people buy it?"

When it comes to Zorro: The Chronicles, the answer to all those questions is a resounding "no".

Don't get me wrong. Zorro is a magnificent character, who's directly responsible for popularising the swashbuckling vigilante genre. But considering this action-adventurer was a tie-in for a French cartoon from seven years ago, it makes you wonder what inspired the creation of this project.

Even though Chronicles has a limited demographic, that doesn't mean it's bad. So, is there anything redeemable about this Zorro adaptation?

Not really. Based on the graphics, you'd swear you were looking at a PS2 title. Every mechanic, whether it's the countering, stealth, or platforming is bafflingly rudimentary. The stiff controls makes it difficult for the legendary swordsman to perform the simplest combos. Although the animations are funny and the voice-acting is surprisingly decent, there's not enough in Zorro: The Chronicles to warrant a purchase, even if you're a die-hard fan of the Spanish hero.
