13 Biggest Things We Learned From E3 2018's Press Conferences
4. PS4 Is Holding All Its Cards Until Next-Gen
When Sony told us before E3 that they were only going to show four big games, we didn't believe them. Speculation ran rampant about new Crash sequels, Metal Gear Remasters and Bloodborne 2, when in reality, they were lining up exactly what they announced before the show.
Whilst that was disappointing to the fans expecting one of the mind-blowing showcases Sony are known for, it implies that the blue-brand is holding back its explosive reveals for the next-generation. Sticking to what players can hope to get their hands on in the foreseeable future means that the PlayStation 5 can drop some meteor announcement alongside its reveal, allowing Playstation to transfer generations while still delivering surprises along the way.
Microsoft may need to assure its players that it's coming back with a vengeance, but Sony's dominance in both sales and fan satisfaction means that they've earned the audience's trust. Players know they have the unique first-party exclusives and innovative development teams to keep providing them with the best experiences on the market, and Sony now has the luxury to enter next-generation at whatever pace they desire.
Regardless of the lack of reveals at Playstation's event, It's hard to believe the console hasn't got some killer cards up its sleeve for the next few years.
