13 Biggest Things We Learned From E3 2018's Press Conferences
8. Halo's Going Back To Its Roots
Corny subtitle aside, there's a lot to be excited about within the new Halo trailer. For the first time since they took over the Sci-fi shooter 343 have ditched the gritty visuals and embraced a brighter colour scheme with a sleeker, shinier Master Chief at the helm. It feels distinctly different from the studio's newer work on the franchise, falling more in line with Bungie's Combat Evolved than any of the sequels that followed it.
Whilst there's not much in the tease to really give us a solid grasp of just how different this entry in the franchise will be, if the distinctive visuals and location are anything to go on, it looks as if 343 might be revisiting Chief's roots in hopes of revitalising the classic franchise.
With dwindling critical and fan feedback, It's a smart idea to re-embrace what made Halo and the Chief so iconic. Xbox needs to prove to their audience that they understand what garnered the console such a large following, and if there's one franchise that made players care about Microsoft, it was the early Halo games. Whether it's a prequel, a sequel, or anything in-between, Halo: Infinite could be the redesign that finally relaunches the dying franchise back into orbit.
