13 Iconic Video Games That Were Sold With Hilariously Terrible Box Art

3. Mega Man (1987)

Pac Man Atari
Capcom

Clearly, back in the 80s, even Capcom had to cut corners when it came to financing marketing material.

That it was cash-strapped and up against the clock in order to ensure NES owners got their first taste of Mega Man on time must be the explanation for this nightmare of illogical dimensions and perspectives. It's that, or Capcom aimed to save some pennies by hiring the drawing hand of a high school dropout.

Either way, the end result is this infamous doodle, which, even if one is able to forgive its nonsensical nature, tells the player absolutely nothing about what's inside the box.

What are those yellow pustules covering the floor? Why is Mega Man clutching a handgun when his signature weapon is the Mega Buster and why does it look like he's pretending to ride a motorbike?

If Capcom had the power, there's no doubt it would have this, thing, scrubbed from the internet, and rightly so.
