13 Severely Underrated Horror Games You Must Play For Halloween

9. The Evil Within

The Evil Within brings us back to the days when charging at a horde of monsters with a tiny pistol was the very definition of death wish, and 'survival horror' wasn't just another way of saying 'Call Of Duty with more monsters'. Whereas the later Resident Evils double-downed on the gunplay and explosions, The Evil Within gives players just enough ammo to scrape by. And if you're hoping to make it to the credits, you'll have to relearn the value of forward planning, stealth, timing and conservation. And trust me when I say that going gung-ho in The Evil Within will only result in a quick death (as well as a vastly diminished ego). Sure, there are moments when the game veers into controller-smashing territory - in fact the constant trial and error becomes downright psychotic at times - but gamers who welcome the challenge will experience survival horror in it's purest form.
