3. Command & Conquer Is Now A Mobile Game
Long-suffering fans of the Command and Conquer series got a square kick in the gonads during EA's E3 conference, with the reveal that the classic RTS franchise is being revived...as a free-to-play mobile game.
An excruciatingly long and dull stage demo showed off the game, named Command and Conquer: Rivals, though for fans of the beloved C&C formula, it honestly didn't seem to offer much at all beyond generic mobile fare.
There are still questions about how it will be monetised, but even if it ends up being surprisingly consumer-friendly, what we've seen so far suggests nothing more than a soulless attempt to exploit the franchise for some low-effort moolah.
Considering how long fans have been waiting for the series to return, this mobile resurrection felt like a total slap in the face. If it was just a companion game released along an actual full-fat, AAA RTS reboot, then fans surely would have gone much easier on it.
