12. Nintendo Ditches Virtual Console For Switch
After leaving fans in the lurch for more than a year, Nintendo finally confirmed back in May that they have no plans to launch their much-loved Virtual Console service on the Switch.
Considering how well-received VC was on the Wii, 3DS, and Wii U, this announcement left an incredibly sour taste with fans, especially as Nintendo has yet to announce any sort of definitive replacement for VC, or clarify how the Netflix-esque library of NES games on the Switch's online subscription will actually work.
It's simple, really. Nintendo, do you like money? Would you like more of it? Let people pay you to play classic NES, Super Nintendo, N64 and GameCube games portably and revel in the shower of revenue that follows.
It's not exactly unlike Nintendo to make business decisions counter to both consumers and their own interests, so it shouldn't be that surprising this has happened. And though classic games will surely make their way to the Switch eventually, it's just a shame Nintendo isn't sending a clear message about how that may end up working.
