11. That Totally Forgettable Halo: Infinite E3 Reveal
During Microsoft's E3 conference, they finally confirmed the existence of a new Halo game, Halo: Infinite, by way of a totally forgettable in-engine trailer that told us virtually nothing about it.
Xbox boss Phil Spencer confirmed Infinite will reunite players with Master Chief, but other than that, concrete details were immensely scarce.
Though pre-release leaks suggested the game's nature will be quite different from a conventional Halo game, Microsoft and 343 Industries have said basically nothing about what fans should expect.
It's just poor form to drop a vague trailer for a hugely anticipated game and give little indication of what it is or when players might hear more about it. In terms of messaging and hype, it just fell totally flat.
On the plus side, 343 writer Jeff Easterling did at least recently confirm that Halo wouldn't be getting in on the Battle Royale party, amusingly declaring, "the only BR we’re interested in is Battle Rifle." Sassy.
