13 Worst Video Game Industry Decisions Of 2018 (So Far)
8. All The AAA Games Set For February 22, 2019
Unless something changes soon, February 22 of next year is going to be an absolute bloodbath for the majority of the games released that day.
You see, four major AAA titles are hitting stores on February 22: Anthem, Crackdown 3, Days Gone and Metro Exodus. It goes without saying that Anthem is easily the safest commercial bet of the four, with its easily marketable (if woefully generic) open-world stylings and focus on squad-based combat.
Crackdown 3 will probably be sent out to die at retail (but will also be available on Xbox Game Pass), while Days Gone has yet to promote itself as anything more than another generic open-world action game, and Metro Exodus has little chance to break outside of its niche fandom.
While it's quite probable that at least two of these games will blink and move their release dates, if they don't it's going to be pretty unpleasant. Anthem will annihilate the sales prospects of its competition and ensure they don't stand a chance.
With Days Gone in particular, if Sony doesn't move it back to March or April, they're basically throwing money down the toilet.
